These days, the internet is full of threats, and their number is only growing. Many people install more than just an antivirus, but also some additional tool to be on the safe side. I use a sandbox. Malware Hunter from GlarySoft isn't really a "classic permanent antivirus"; it's a utility that helps find suspicious files and potentially dangerous junk on your PC, plus it comes with features to speed up and clean up your system.

Scanning your computer for threats:
I'll say right away that this tool doesn't replace a full-fledged antivirus. However, it's perfectly suitable for preventative maintenance and for when you've already caught something and need to clean up the mess. You run an on-demand scan, and the software searches for files and elements that could be problematic.

There are three scanning modes:
Quick Scan - the fastest check of key locations
Full Scan - a deep scan of all areas of the system
Custom Scan - choose what you want to check

Optimization and cleaning:
Besides scans, the program can tweak the system a bit. You can manage startup, scheduled tasks, services, plugins—in short, you can manage things that frequently load Windows and hang in the background for no apparent reason. Network optimization is also included to speed up your computer.

There's also a cleaning tool that removes unnecessary data and junk. In theory, this will free up disk space and sometimes actually improve system responsiveness, especially if nothing has been cleaned in a while.
However, not everyone will appreciate the logs, and experienced users might be bothered by the fact that it's not always clear what exactly is being removed during cleaning. Personally, I would also like to see a more detailed list.
